Nutrex collects and processes the following information to provide you with nutrition analysis services:
– Food descriptions and photos you provide
– Nutritional analysis results
– Your name and email (when signing in with Apple)
– App preferences (language, theme, accent color)
– Sign-in state and authentication data
– Nutrition profile data (KYC) if created
– iCloud sync status and preferences
– Apple Health integration settings
– Subscription status and purchase information
– Usage statistics and app events (stored locally only)
– App settings stored in UserDefaults
– Secure data stored in device keychain
2. AI Integration
When you use Nutrex:
– Food descriptions are sent to either OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Nutrex AI (powered by Groq) for analysis
– Food photos are only processed through OpenAI’s API
– AI Meal Suggestions are generated using the same AI services
– Your API keys are stored securely on your device only in the keychain
– We never store or transmit your API keys to our servers
– When signed in, you can use our free Gemini API key
– Nutrex AI data is processed via Groq’s cloud infrastructure
– Free users have daily usage limits (4 food notes and 1 AI meal suggestion)
– The exact data sent to AI services includes your food descriptions, photos, and in some cases, your nutrition profile information to generate personalized recommendations
3. Subscriptions and Payments
Regarding our subscription service:
– We offer a Pro subscription that unlocks unlimited usage
– The subscription is auto-renewable through your App Store account
– Payment will be charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase
– Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
– You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your App Store Account Settings
– Canceling a subscription does not entitle you to a refund for the current period
– When you cancel, you’ll retain access until the end of your subscription period
– We don’t store your payment information – all transactions are handled by Apple
– Your subscription status is stored securely in your device’s keychain and synchronized via iCloud when enabled
– For testing purposes, subscription information may be temporarily duplicated in UserDefaults (in debug builds only)
– We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, to handle subscription purchases, restoration, and status verification
– RevenueCat receives your App Store transactions and device information for proper subscription management, but does not receive your personal identification information
4. Sign in with Apple
When you sign in with Apple:
– We receive your name and email address
– This information is stored securely on your device
– We use this only for authentication purposes
– You can sign out at any time
– Your data persists locally between sessions
– Your Apple credentials are managed entirely by Apple
– We may lose access to your name/email if you revoke permissions
– Signing in gives you access to free basic features with daily limits
– Authentication state is managed through secure keychain storage
5. KYC (Know Your Calories) Profile
When creating a nutrition profile:
– We collect basic health information (age, weight, height, gender)
– Your activity level and fitness goals
– Your preferred calculation method (standard formula or AI-enhanced)
– Customized macronutrient ratios (protein, carbs, fat)
– Your calculated nutrition plan including daily calories and macros
– AI-generated nutrition recommendations if selected
– This data stays on your device and in iCloud if sync is enabled
– It’s used only to calculate personalized nutrition recommendations
– You can update or delete your profile at any time
– Your nutrition profile history is stored locally
– This information is necessary to provide you with accurate nutritional guidance but is never shared with third parties
6. Data Storage and Sync
All your data is stored in the following ways:
– Primarily locally on your device using secure storage
– Sensitive information (API keys, subscription data) in device’s secure keychain
– App preferences and settings in UserDefaults
– Optionally synced to iCloud if enabled in settings
– iCloud sync includes all food entries, photos, analysis results, and KYC profiles
– When reinstalling the app, data can be restored from iCloud
– No third-party servers are used for data storage
– Data is synchronized between your Apple devices only
– Subscription status is synced across your devices via App Store
– There is no automatic deletion of your data – it remains until you manually delete it or remove the app
– You can export your data at any time through the export feature
7. HealthKit Integration
When Apple Health integration is enabled:
– Nutritional data (calories, protein, carbs, fat) from food entries is sent to Apple Health
– We do not read any data from Apple Health
– This integration follows Apple’s HealthKit guidelines
– Health data is managed by Apple with their privacy protocols
– You can control this integration in app settings
– HealthKit data is never used for advertising or other data-mining purposes
8. Photo Usage
When you add photos to your food entries:
– Photos are processed locally and through OpenAI’s API only
– Photos are stored on your device and in iCloud (if sync enabled)
– Photos are never shared with third parties beyond AI analysis
– You can delete photos at any time
– Photo analysis is not available when using Gemini AI or Nutrex AI
– The app may use Pexels API to fetch stock images for certain UI elements, but this doesn’t involve your personal photos
9. Data Security
We implement security measures to protect your data:
– API keys are stored in the device’s secure keychain
– All data processing uses encrypted connections
– No third-party analytics or tracking tools are used
– Internal analytics manager only logs events locally for debugging
– Authentication data is handled securely
– iCloud sync uses Apple’s secure infrastructure
– Subscription information is managed through StoreKit and App Store
– We utilize SKAdNetworkItems for conversion tracking as required by Apple, without exposing personal data
10. Data Retention
Regarding how long we keep your data:
– All data is retained until you manually delete it or uninstall the app
– iCloud data persists until you delete it from your iCloud account
– No automatic purging of old entries or photos occurs
– You can manually delete any data at any time
– If you delete the app without iCloud sync enabled, all your data will be lost
– If iCloud sync is enabled, your data will persist in iCloud even after app deletion
11. Your Rights
You have the right to:
– Export your data at any time via the export feature
– Delete your data from the app
– Control what data you share with AI services
– Sign out and remove authentication data
– Enable or disable iCloud and HealthKit integration

3. Account Features
When using Nutrex:
– You can sign in with your Apple ID
– Signing in gives you access to our free Gemini API key
– You can customize your experience with accent colors
– Your account preferences are saved locally
– You can create personalized nutrition profiles
– You can use the app without signing in (with limited features)
– Your Apple credentials are managed by Apple, not by us
– Free users have daily limits on food notes (4) and AI meal suggestions (1)
4. Subscription Options and Billing
Subscription information:
– We offer a Pro subscription that removes all usage limits
– The subscription is billed through your Apple ID account
– Subscription automatically renews unless turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
– Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
– You can manage and cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings
– No refunds will be granted for the unused portion of a subscription period
– Prices may vary by location and could change without notice
– If you don’t purchase a subscription, you can still use the app with daily limits or by providing your own API key
– We use RevenueCat as a third-party subscription management service to process and manage subscriptions
– RevenueCat helps us handle subscription purchases, restoration, and status verification across your devices
– By subscribing, you agree that your transaction data will be processed by RevenueCat in accordance with their privacy policy
5. KYC (Know Your Calories) Profile
The nutrition profile feature:
– Collects basic health metrics for personalized recommendations
– Creates calorie and macronutrient targets based on your data
– Stores your profile history locally on your device
– Is entirely optional and you can use the app without it
– Can be updated or deleted at any time
– Uses standard nutritional formulas and AI enhancement
6. AI Services Usage
To use Nutrex’s analysis features:
– You can choose between OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Nutrex AI (via Groq)
– For OpenAI: You must provide your own API key
– For Gemini: You can use our public API key (when signed in) or your own
– For Nutrex AI: The service is integrated with no additional API key required
– You are responsible for any charges when using your own API keys
– You must comply with the terms of service of all AI providers
– API keys are stored securely only on your device
– Without a subscription, there are daily usage limits when using our free API access
– With your own API key, there are no usage limits even without a subscription
7. Photo Usage
When using photo analysis:
– Photo analysis is only available with OpenAI
– You should only upload photos of food items
– Photos are processed through OpenAI’s API
– Photos are stored on your device and in iCloud (if enabled)
– You retain all rights to your photos
– Photos are never shared with third parties beyond AI analysis
8. Data Storage and Sync
Regarding your data:
– All data is stored locally on your device by default
– You can enable iCloud sync to backup and sync across devices
– When iCloud sync is enabled, all your food journal data, including photos, is stored in your iCloud account
– You can export your food journal at any time
– You can delete your data from the app
– Data can be automatically restored from iCloud when reinstalling
9. Apple Health Integration
When using Apple Health integration:
– Nutritional data from your food entries is sent to Apple Health
– The integration follows Apple’s HealthKit guidelines
– This feature is optional and can be enabled/disabled
– We do not access any other health data from your device
– Health data privacy is managed according to Apple’s policies
10. Service Limitations
Please be aware that:
– Nutritional analysis is AI-based and may not be 100% accurate
– The app requires an internet connection for analysis
– Service availability depends on the chosen AI provider’s API status
– Photo analysis is only available when using OpenAI
– Text input is disabled when using photo analysis
– Some features require signing in with Apple
– iCloud sync requires an Apple ID and sufficient iCloud storage
– Free users have daily limits on food journal entries and AI meal suggestions
– API allowances may change based on our service capacity
– You should keep the app updated to the latest version, as some features or AI capabilities may not work properly in older versions
11. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
– Provide accurate information for analysis and KYC profiles
– Keep your API keys secure
– Use the app for its intended purpose
– Not misuse the AI analysis features
– Protect your authentication credentials
– Ensure sufficient iCloud storage if sync is enabled
– Manage your subscription status if you choose to subscribe
– Keep your app updated to ensure proper functionality
12. Disclaimer of Warranty and Liability
The app is provided ‘as is’ without warranty of any kind:
– Nutrex is NOT a substitute for professional nutrition advice, medical diagnosis, or treatment
– You should NOT rely on Nutrex as a replacement for consulting with a qualified dietitian, nutritionist, or healthcare professional
– Nutritional analysis is AI-generated and provides estimates only, not exact scientific measurements
– The app does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any nutritional information
– KYC profiles provide approximations based on standard formulas and may not be suitable for all individuals
– You use the nutritional recommendations and meal suggestions at your own risk
– We expressly disclaim ALL WARRANTIES, including accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose
– We are not responsible for any decisions you make based on the information provided by the app
– We are not liable for any damages (including health issues) that may result from using the application
– We are not responsible for AI service interruptions or inaccuracies
– Any reliance you place on the information provided is strictly at your own risk
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of new terms.
